Afaf Elias

Arabic Vocalist | Musicologist | Educator

Afaf Elias holds a Diplôme d’études approfondies in Music and Musicology, specializing in General Musicology of Traditions, from the Faculty of Music and Musicology at Université Antonine. She also earned a Diploma in Arabic Singing from the School of Music at Université Saint-Esprit de Kaslik.

She further pursued studies in Byzantine Music at the Byzantine Music School in Bkeftin under the direction of Father Nicolas Malek, as well as theatrical training through the Amchit workshop under the guidance of Dr. Elie Lahoud.

Throughout her career, she has been actively involved in music education and artistic training. She previously served as an academic instructor at the Faculty of Music and Musicology at Université Antonine and currently teaches Western musical training at the university’s School of Music. She has also worked as a vocal coach for children’s choirs specializing in liturgical and paraliturgical repertoire.

In addition, she has taught music education in several technical institutes across Lebanon and formerly taught Arabic singing, vocal technique, solfège, music theory, and Arabic maqam while organizing vocal concerts at Saint-Michel Music School in Bhersaf, Lebanon.

Alongside her institutional work, she teaches private courses in Arabic singing, vocal technique, Arabic maqam, solfège, musical dictation, Western music theory, and musical analysis.

She is also a member of the Syndicate of Theatre, Cinema, Radio, and Television Actors.
