Vox Orientis
Vocal Ensemble | Sacred Music Ensemble | Early Music
Vox Orientis is a Lebanese vocal ensemble dedicated to the performance, preservation, and creative renewal of sacred and artistic vocal music, founded with the aim of uniting historical awareness, musical craftsmanship, and spiritual depth while building a bridge between the heritage of Eastern Christian traditions and the language of Western polyphony.
Rooted in Lebanon and inspired by Syriac and Maronite traditions, the ensemble places particular emphasis on Arabic and Syriac repertoire, while also contributing to the rediscovery of lesser-known works and the creation of new music through original arrangements and compositions that bring these traditions into dialogue with contemporary audiences.
Its artistic identity is shaped by a strong affinity for Renaissance and early Baroque aesthetics, particularly in their clarity of texture, expressive counterpoint, and close relationship between text and music.
Beyond performance, Vox Orientis approaches music as a form of cultural stewardship, engaging in concerts, recordings, educational initiatives, workshops, and artistic collaborations aimed at preserving and transmitting Lebanon’s musical heritage to future generations.
The name Vox Orientis, meaning “Voice of the East,” reflects the ensemble’s mission to give voice to the spiritual, cultural, and musical heritage of the East through performances marked by authenticity, refinement, and artistic devotion.
